Mothers of Invention 3.0 broadcast July 23rd

Journey number four into Zappa's universe will be broadcast Monday, July 23rd at 7PM. The content will feature the discography of the third incarnation of the Mothers of Invention (the Brock/Duke/Fowler band if you will) that began with Over-Nite Sensation and ended with Bongo Fury. I think Dweezil said that these albums were very much among his favorites.
This program will conclude the original plan that Tony and I made to provide an overview of the Mothers-era of Frank's music (1966-1975) that really was foundational and established the basic musical vocabulary that Frank continued to develop in the years that followed. It was also an era that Zappa paid something of a tribute to with the three boxed vinyl sets collectively called "The Old Masters," after which he apparently decided "you can't do that on stage anymore."

Hello....
I hope you enjoyed our last voyage into Zappa-Land on WCWP. The next program is currently scheduled for Monday June 4th  at 7pm. This rescheduling ought to be rock solid. In any case the ever gracious Tony Traguardo, whose guest I am for these Zappa presentations, can always be heard broadcasting his program "Free Format For Free" every Monday at 7pm.

On June 4th we will feature Frank's "instrumental music for jazz ensemble and big band" as I like to call it, meaning cuts from Hot Rats, Waka Jawaka, and The Grand Wazoo. It will also highlight how these albums lay down a new palette of musical colors as it were for instrumental material on Lather and in a few picks from the third incarnation of The Mothers of Invention (the Brock-Duke-Fowler band.)

Hey folks,
I'm tentatively scheduled to be Tony Traguardo's guest co-host on Monday, the 19th of March @ 7pm for part II of our guided tour through the discography of the late great Frank Zappa. This upcoming foray might well be subtitled The Phlorescent Leech and Eddie Meet the Atonal Monster From Outer Space. Which of course would be absurdest code for focusing on the second incarnation of the Mothers of Invention 1970 to 1972.  MOI-2 as you may well know featured former Turtles Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan on lead vocals and Aynsley Dunbar on the drums who had previously worked with both John Mayall and Jeff Beck before come under Frank's "stern employ."
Selections will be culled from Chunga's Revenge, Fillmore East and Just Another Band From LA with quite generous servings from 200 Motels as well.
